Our Story

About me

My name is Germano.
I created e-Somm out of my passion for the art and science of food and wine pairing.
My interest in wine goes back almost 25 years. I had the privilege of living in classic wine making countries, including Italy, where I was born, and France. And I visited many of the other old and new world producers, from Chile to Canada, from South Africa to Greece.

In 2016 I graduated at third level with the International Association of Sommeliers. In 2017 I obtained my third level certification with the WSET in London, the prestigious academy associated with the Court of Masters of Wine. I am a member of the Guild of Sommeliers in the US, and a globally featured blogger on Vivino, ranking at the top in Switzerland, where I live today. I was - twice - a finalist at the Sommelier challenge from Ruinart, the world’s oldest champagne house.

I am the co-founder and the tasting officer of Vinygma: uncork the mysteries of wine. Since 2015 we have been running blind tastings, wine appreciation classes, educational and fun events. Visit us at www.vinygma.com

e-Somm is born from my love for a good wine list, when I am captivated and intrigued by the pairings, the quality and diversity of the labels, the offering of something which is at the same time surprising and affordable, sophisticated but still within reach.
